Parents Resources

We have two different parent meetings at
Northeast - N-ACTS is supported and attended by the
principal, Kurt Glathar, and Rocket Parents
which is lead by Mr. Glathar.
N-ACTS (Northeast Area Council for Teen Safety) is a community organization working with the school to encourage and help parents promote safe, healthy, alcohol and drug free choices for our students. They meet the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Northeast High School media center. The dates are posted in the Rocket Messenger (parent newsletter) and on our web site. The October 12 date was not in the newsletter because I did not have a confirmed date at the time it was sent to the print shop. The following dates are the scheduled meetings for the remainder of this school year:

Rocket Parents
Rocket Parents meetings are led by Mr. Glathar and is similar to PTA/PTO meetings. These meetings cover many issues affecting our students and is a good place to voice concerns that a parent may have about our school. Rocket Parents will meet once each quarter for the remainder of the school year at 7:00 pm in the media center:

Philosophy:
Lincoln Northeast High School and the Lincoln Public School District strive to provide an educational program designed to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students. It is understood that parental input is an important element in assisting the administration and staff of Northeast High School as they plan and evaluate existing and future school improvement activities.   Therefore, in order to enhance communication and to obtain parental input and insight, Rocket Parents was established for Lincoln Northeast High School. Its goal is to enhance two-way communication between the school's staff/administration and the "Northeast Community" regarding all aspects of the educational setting for Northeast High School students.

Objectives:
1. To provide a greater understanding about Lincoln Northeast High School.
2. To provide an opportunity for administrators/ teachers to enlist the support of parents in the school improvement process.
3.  To provide an opportunity for parents to talk with school officials about the educational needs of all students.
4. To provide an opportunity for members of Rocket Parents to communicate information to other parents.
5. To provide an opportunity for principals/teachers to "test" ideas, which may affect the educational, or activity programs at Lincoln Northeast.
6. To provide an opportunity for principals/teachers to share knowledge and information concerning educational issues /topics with parents and community. .

Purpose:
The activities of Rocket Parents will focus on the identified topics or issues, which will be mutually decided upon at the beginning of each school year.  Discussion shall not include individual students or staff personnel.

Meetings:
The building staff in cooperation with the Rocket Parents chairperson will determine the time and day of Rocket Parents meetings. A minimum of four and a maximum of eight meetings will be held each school year. The chairperson, in consultation with the Principal, will prepare an agenda for each meeting and summary notes will be provided to members at the following meeting or mailed to them.

Membership Selections:
All parents are welcome to attend Rocket Parents meetings. It is hoped that representation would include various geographical and demographic characteristics. Efforts should be made to have representation of parents from all grade levels.

Self-Assessment:
The members of Rocket Parents will be given the opportunity during the last meeting of the year to provide feedback on the years’ activities.
