Northeast Hall of Fame
Sixty years ago, in the fall of 1941, Lincoln Northeast
High School opened. Unlike any other high school in the city of
Lincoln, Northeast High School brought together a student body
from three separate communities - Havelock, University Place,
and Bethany. The melding of the three student bodies, faculties,
and communities was immediately successful. The unified spirit
and loyal community support of the early years have been repeatedly
demonstrated in the athletic achievements of Lincoln Northeast
High School. Graduates and the northeast Lincoln community are
proud of the unique heritage and spirited tradition.
On the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the school, the
Northeast Hall of Fame
was established. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize,
and permanently honor those athletes, coaches, and teams who have
set the standards of excellence on behalf of Northeast High School
athletics. These athletes are the bond between the past and present,
which have solidified a tradition of community spirit that is
unique among the high schools in Lincoln.
To date the Hall of Fame has inducted 11 coaches, 16 state championship
teams, and 94 athletes. |
