New Scholarships Posted on Education Quest:
Abbott & Fenner Business Scholarship-$1,000-www.abbottandfenner.com ; LPS Association of Office Professionals-$1,000 for LPS students interested in business.
New National Scholarships:
Gates Millennium Scholarship-for financially needy students go to www.gmsp.org
Students can access these scholarship applications by visiting the Northeast Counseling Scholarship webpage or Education Quest’s ScholarshipQuest website.
Ongoing Opportunities For Students:
Mon., Nov. 9/ 8:00-3:30 $10 before event; $12 day of event ~ UNL Red Letter Days – Senior Open House.  For more information visit the Career Opportunities link on the Counseling Website or ask your Friendly Counselor.
College Rep/Military Visits at LNE:
Tuesday, Nov., 10-Wayne State-Wayne, NE @ 8:00; Nov., 18-Kansas State-Manhattan, KS @ 2:00.  Interested Juniors & Seniors need to sign up with Mrs. Ideus in the Counseling Center.
Today, Nov. 6 is the ACT Registration deadline for the December ACT test.  SENIORS ~ this December test is the LAST test colleges look at for scholarship consideration.  Pick up a fee waiver (if eligible) from the Counseling Center and register at actstudent.org.
Seniors attending SCC next fall in a vocational program ~ are encouraged to take the FREE ACT eCompass test at the SCC Testing Center.  This test is free and untimed.  Call the SCC Testing Office at 437-2715 for testing hours.
Seniors who haven’t had their Senior interview with their Counselor yet this semester ~ stop by the Counseling Center today and make an appointment with your friendly counselor who will help you with everything from college & scholarship applications to a resume!

The sign up for the 2009 Star Strutter Drill Team Show emcees and Star Studders will begin on Monday, Nov. 9 and go through Thursday, Nov. 12.  Sign ups will be in the Main Office for all eligible seniors to win a chance for these positions. Good Luck!

LNE AFJROTC students are selling Younkers Community Day coupon booklets for their 14 November Community Day sale.  Booklets cost only $5.00 each and really pay for themselves (hint, hint...the first coupon is for $10.00 off an item costing $10.00 or more!).  Booklets may be purchased from Lt Col Pullen or MSgt Woodruff in rooms 134 or 10 or from any AFJROTC cadet (student) now through 13 November.  Please support AFJROTC's community service and morale/welfare/recreation (MWR) programs.

Lincoln Lacrosse Club will form the first ever girls lacrosse team in the city of Lincoln in Spring 2010.  Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States ~ especially in the girls version of the sport.  We will have an informational and organizational meeting at Gere Branch Library on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 am in the community rooms.  Information at the meeting will include general details on the game of girls lacrosse, cost to play, equipment required and general dates for spring.  More information can be found at www.lincolnlax.net

LNE AFJROTC            students are selling tickets for the Lincoln Stars vs. Green Bay hockey game on Dec. 18.  Tickets are $14 each for a reserved bleacher seat and are available through Dec. 2.  Please see Lt. Col. Pullen or MSgt. Woodruff in rooms 134 or 10 or any AFJROTC            cadet (student) to buy a ticket and support AFJROTC community service and morale/welfare/recreation (MWR) programs. 

ATTENTION FALL ATHLETES:  We need the following teams to meet after school in Computer Labs 130 and 132 today to complete an athletic survey:
Boys Tennis – today – Lab 130; 9th/Reserve Football – today – Lab 132
JV/Varsity Football & Volleyball will complete the survey some time next week ~ time & location will be announced later this week.
