| Grade 11 - February 4 and 5, 2009: The state requires that all 11th grade public students be given the Statewide Writing Assessment. For the majority of 11th graders, the test will be given during their scheduled English class on two consecutive days.
The First day students are given a writing prompt from which they create a draft.
Day two-students revise their draft to produce a final copy.
Student results are analyzed and used for a variety of purposes:
1) Determine how LNE students perform in relation to other public school 11th grade students in the state of Nebraska
2) Measure writing skills for the English/Language Arts curriculum
3) Determine future school goals
4)Report to the district, state and federal government
5)Determine if LNE is in need of improvement as identified in the "No Child Left Behind" federal legislation. |
