Lincoln Public Schools has been selected to participate in the 2006 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often referred to as the Nation's Report Card. NAEP is a US Department of Education program of ongoing assessment of what elementary (grade 4) , middle (grade 8) and high school (grade 12) students know and can do in core academic subjects. The NAEP assessment has been given to US students since 1969. You may have read about the NAEP results in professional journals and newspapers.
From NAEP, we will be able to see how students in our state perform compared to students in other states and across the country. No results will be reported to or about individual students or schools.
Test Date: February 7
Students: 95 Seniors, randomly selected
Length of Test: Approximately 90 minutes
Tests given: NAEP selects the tests and students given at the site.
Students will be randomly assigned one of the following areas: Civics; Writing; Economics; US History
Proctors: Provided by NAEP (no LNE staff)
I will receive the list of randomly selected students the first week in JANUARY. A letter will be mailed to the parents of the selected students by the next week. A copy of students testing, times of testing and room assignments will be provided to teachers prior to the test.
