April 2024

Principal's Message

We have had a great start to the second semester and look forward to another busy month!

April News and Notes

Happy Spring and happy Quarter 4! As usual, we are off to a busy quarter 4. As you know we have been fortunate to have some good weather for our outdoor activities so that has been helpful.

As a reminder we continue to focus on Effective Instruction and Culture for Learning with Equitable practices woven throughout all that we do. These are important foundational components as we continue to R.I.S.E.

School Improvement Focus

Our continued areas of focus for the 2023-2024 school year continues to be: Effective Instruction, Culture for Learning and Equity. (See visual below). Our Focus aligns nicely with the District Board Goals: *(That visual is also below.)

  • Increasing the graduation rate
  • Reduce suspensions
  • Reduce disproportionality among all students who have taken at least 1 honors course
  • Increase hiring staff from diverse backgrounds.

Prom 23/24

Prom will be here before we know it. The dance will be held on April 13th from 8:00—11:00 p.m.

  • LNE Juniors and Seniors are invited and are allowed 1 guest/date per person. Students will register their guest/date with LNE when they purchase their tickets. Guests must be in high school or be under 21 to attend.
  • All fines and fees must be paid or a plan must be in place prior to ticket purchase. A fines/fees letter will be sent to students with outstanding fines/fees. We encourage all students and parents to check their student’s fines and fees through Parentvue prior to the week of ticket sales to ensure they have addressed any issues. If you need to make a payment plan, please call the Main Office and we will put you in touch with your student’s administrator. If you already have a fee waiver plan or previous payment plan in place and have no other fines or fees your student WILL be able to purchase a ticket.
  • Attendance by Thursday April 5th, students must be passing at least 6 classes and have fewer than 54 tardies and/or 25 truant periods.  Prom tickets will be $20.00 and will be on sale during lunch and after school, Monday April 8th, Wednesday April 10th and end on Thursday April 11th.

Computing Services News

Testing Season is upon us!

It’s said a body needs 8 hours of sleep every night. That’s especially true during the testing season. Student Chromebooks also need a good night of charging. Please help your students remember to bring their Chromebooks fully charged every day.

Screen Time

Did you know not all screen time is the same? There is a significant difference between “active” screen time (engaging in focused production of content) and “passive” screen time (consuming entertainment media). The American Academy Of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends families have thoughtful conversations around the purposes for using digital media and offers an online tool for creating a “personalized family media use plan.” AAP Media Plan.
