For our student drivers, our number one goal is to provide a safe, orderly and positive parking experience for all our students.

Student Parking Guidlines for Green Lots

  1. All vehicles parked in a student lot must have a parking permit.
  2. Student parking will be available, for a fee, to all eligible Juniors and Seniors.
  3. Eligibility:
    1. Student must be a junior / senior determined by Northeast High School.
    2. Student must have cleared all fines / fees owed to Lincoln Public Schools and Northeast HS
    3. Student must have a valid Nebraska driver’s license.
    4. Student must submit the Parking Application form which must be filled out and signed by both the student and parent / legal guardian.
    5. Student must pay a one-time yearly, non-refundable $5.00 usage fee, due at time of registration.
  4. Parking permits may be purchased in the bookkeeper’s office at any point in the school year by an eligible student (see eligibility requirements above).
  5. The parking decal must be properly attached to the inside of the rear window, in the lower right corner. It is the student’s responsibility to be sure the decal is visible. Loosely attached or taped-on decals are not acceptable.
  6. Parking decals are non-transferable. If a student wishes to change the vehicle to which they want the decal attached, they must bring a NEW completed Parking Application form along with the old decal, to the parking secretary and a new decal will be issued without charge.
  7. Temporary parking decals will not be issued. If a student needs to drive a different vehicle other than the one for which the permit was issued, that student must report this to the main office prior to the beginning of their school day. Failure to do so will risk the student’s vehicle being ticketed and/or towed.
  8. Juniors/Seniors applying for a parking permit must understand that purchasing a parking permit does NOT guarantee you a parking space. Purchasing a permit is an agreement between the student and the school to follow all LNE parking rules and regulations as laid out in the LNE student handbook. The student lot has limited parking spaces and Northeast will be issuing more permits than spaces. If the lot is full, then students must park on the street. Students should plan accordingly to arrive at school with enough time to find parking. Students who choose to leave campus for lunch risk losing their parking place when they return. We will not excuse late arrivals because of a parking issue.
  9. Tickets for Students in violation of LNE parking regulations will be issued as follows:
    1. 1st violation the student is issued a WARNING ticket.
    2. 2nd violation the student is issued a $10 ticket. Tickets may be paid in the LNE bookkeeper’s office.
    3. 3rd violation the student vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  10. Tickets will be issued for violations and may result in the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense. Violations include but are not limited to:
    1. No valid parking permit decal or improperly displayed decal.
    2. Parking in the Staff “Pink” lot, Visitors lot or other RESERVED areas.
    3. Illegally parking in a designated fire lane, bus or loading zones.
    4. Parking in a reserved area, crosswalk, driveway or in a no parking zone.
    5. Occupying more than one parking space.
    6. Parking in a handicap space; this is also a city parking violation and is monitored by the LPD.
  11. Any vehicle parked on Lincoln Public Schools property is subject to be searched based on suspicion of violation of school rules or criminal offense.
  12. Any student who finds that the $5 usage fee causes a financial hardship should contact Mr. Runyan for assistance.
  13. Parking in the student lot is a privilege, not a right. This privilege can be terminated by the Northeast Administration for Lincoln Public Schools rules violations including excessive truancies, tardies and school misconduct.

All student parking on our LNE campus will be confined to the Main Student Lot and smaller West Student Lot.

The District / school is not financially responsible for any damage that may occur to your vehicle if / when it is towed.

As we get closer to starting our 2019-2020 school year, it is time to start thinking about student transportation. For our student drivers, our number one goal is to provide a safe, orderly and positive parking experience for all our students. As a result, LNE is making important changes to our parking policy that will go in to effect at the beginning of 1st semester (August 2019).

New Parking Policy: Effective August 12th, 2019

  1. To park in the LNE Student “Green” Lot, each student must purchase a 2019-2020 parking permit for $5. Students who have fines or fees will not be eligible to purchase a parking permit until they are resolved.
  2. Parking permits will be available to all 11th & 12th grade students ONLY.
  3. Purchasing a student parking permit does NOT guarantee your student a spot. The student parking lot is first come first served. Purchasing a parking pass is an agreement between the student and the school to follow all LNE parking rules and regulations as laid out in the LNE student handbook. Students should plan accordingly to arrive at school with enough time to find parking. We will not excuse late arrivals because of a parking issue.
  4. Students may only park in the designated Student “Green” Lots. These lots will be clearly marked with new signs reflecting our policy change.

Consequences for Violating LNE parking policies

  1. On the 1st violation, a written warning will be placed under the windshield wiper of the vehicle in violation. This written notice will serve as the only warning to the vehicle’s driver. The vehicle license plate # will be recorded in the LNE Main Office.
  2. On the 2nd violation, the owner will receive a parking ticket for $10. All parking fines can be paid in the Bookkeeper’s office during regular school hours.
  3. On the 3rd violation, the violating vehicle will be towed from the LNE parking lot, at vehicle owner’s expense. The cost to retrieve a vehicle from the impound lot at Capital Towing ranges from $110 to $140.

To enforce permit parking in the student “Green” lot, we have been given permission by district administration to tow vehicles that are in violation of LNE parking rules and regulations. Over the summer break, district officials will install new signage, informing of this parking policy change. The signs will state:

Permit Parking Only. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed at vehicle owner’s expense.
Towing enforced on school days from 7 am – 3 pm.
Please contact Capital Towing, 402-475-7676, for information regarding towed vehicles.

You can help us enforce these new policies by talking with your student about the new expectations, letting them know that you expect them to comply with the new LNE parking policy and supporting all consequences for policy violations.

Please call our school office at 402-436-1303 with questions you may have about this policy.
