Principal's Message

The weather sure has made for an interesting start to second semester! Please know that as we begin a new semester we will also be re-committing to our R.I.S.E. expectations of being Respectful, Inclusive, Safe and Engaged so we can be sure we are maintaining a safe and effective learning environment for all students.

We will also be re-committing to our R.I.S.E. expectations of being Respectful, Inclusive, Safe and Engaged so we can be sure we are maintaining a safe and effective learning environment for all students.

Research shows that re-teaching and reviewing school-wide/classroom expectations creates predictable adult behavior across all settings, providing students with a sense of security. Providing this structure reduces stress and reminds students that it is “business as usual.” This decreases the likelihood of problem behavior.

Additionally, increasing our specific positive feedback will not only support students to demonstrate positive behavior, but cultivate a safe, successful and positive learning environment for all.   This will include asking our students to:

  • Arrive to classes on time
    • Note: Students who receive 12 or more tardies in a week will be assigned an automatic after school detention the following Tuesday.
  • Minimize requests for passes to the restroom by using restroom facilities during passing time.
  • Have their permanent ID on their person.

School Improvement Focus

Our continued areas of focus for the 2023-2024 school year continues to be: Effective Instruction, Culture for Learning and Equity. (See visual below). Our Focus aligns nicely with the District Board Goals: *(That visual is also below.)

  • Increasing the graduation rate
  • Reduce suspensions
  • Reduce disproportionality among all students who have taken at least 1 honors course
  • Increase hiring staff from diverse backgrounds.

MTSS (multi tiers of student support) focus:

Parentvue

All LPS households should have a login to ParentVUE in order to access important school information about their child. This includes current attendance, grading and reports cards each quarter. Please contact your student’s school office for information on setting up your account or for questions on how to use this important portal. Check out our website for more information.

Report absences using ParentVUE

Families can easily report a child’s full day absence without having to call the school by using ParentVUE. Note: Partial day absences still require a call to the office to specify what time the student will be gone.

Just follow these easy steps on your computer or through the app on your phone:

  • Login to ParentVue
  • Click on the blue “Report Full Day Absence” button
  • Enter the start and end dates.
  • Select the reason.
  • Add any additional notes.
  • Click Save.
